Professionalism

For most of its history, the Village ran on insider politics and on volunteers doing jobs that need professionals. We changed that. Campton Hills now has professional management in the places that matter most.

Professional Management

• A professional Administrator. A new organization chart places all supervisory authority in the Administrator, and we have begun aligning the Village code with it.
• A professional Police Chief with Staff and Command training. The department has steadily professionalized its equipment, training, vehicles and technology, adopted professional General Orders through Lexipol, and writes outstanding grants.
• Professional financial direction. A professional municipal accounting firm manages the Village’s finances, an outsourced Treasurer is in place, Board members serve formally on the Finance Committee, and an independent firm is being engaged to audit key accounts.
• Full-time professional management of Building and Zoning. This is in our Strategic Plan and pending.

Getting the Basics Right

• Resumed operating with a lawfully appointed Village Clerk.
• Confirmed a Building and Zoning Officer, a required position that had gone unfilled for years.
• Defended the Village Attorney against a removal attempt.
• Streamlined the agenda process.
• Moved the Village to secure Microsoft 365 .gov infrastructure, with networks secured to federal CISA guidance and backups in place.
